Although recycling plastic is possible, it is much more difficult to recycle post-consumer plastic for packaging. It is visually very difficult to separate the different types of plastic and therefore recycle it. The exceptions are items like PET (soda bottles) that are environmentally friendly and easily identifiable. Also, because of the different base colors of plastic, recycled plastic takes on a grey tint.
